Here’s to 2013!

Another year, another New Year’s post. 2012 wasn’t as productive as I’d hoped, but not all bad either: I had 3 poems and 1 flash story published, finished a revision of a novel, and got some excellent feedback.

This year’s goals: Finish another revision of the novel, get the baby to sleep through the night, and keep up with the weekly W1S1!

I have a new flash piece, “Star-Crossed Lovers,” published today at 365 tomorrows. This was my January submission for W1S1, and so far my only submission for W1S1 2012. So much for New Year’s plans!

Happy New Year!

And with a new year, a new plan. For 2012, I’m keeping the writing goals simple: finish editing the novel I started editing last year, finish the novel in progress I started in last August’s Camp NaNo, and give Write1Sub1 another go, on the monthly schedule.

Last year I took on W1S1 weekly, and only kept up for about half the year, but what a great half it was! I wrote lots of twitter fiction I wouldn’t otherwise have written, and even when I wasn’t writing, W1S1 kept me thinking about writing.

In fact, the last of my twitter fiction from W1S1 2011, “Nanny Bots,” is up at trapeze magazine today! Time to get more work out there.

Falling Through the Cracks

Well, summer slipped away, and most of September too. I gave Camp NaNoWriMo a go, back in August, and made good progress on a novel start, though it was nowhere near 50,000 words. The hammocks and smores were just too tempting! Looking ahead to November’s NaNoWriMo, maybe I’ll use that to continue for another 50,000 words. What I’m really hoping for is release of a non-beta version of Scrivener for Windows before then! (They say soon . . . )

In other news, my story “Fallen” was published at Nanoism this summer.

And just this week, my story “When We Missed the Forest for the Trees” came out in the new Issue Three of 5×5 Fiction. Check out the whole issue – it’s a great read!

Also, my story “Chalk City” is up at trapeze magazine today.

Every Day Poets announced the winners of their How to Handle Explosives Week Contest today, and my poem “Independence” is one of them! It will be published sometime in early July. Congrats to all the winners!

This has been a good week for acceptances! My story “The Last Word” was published today at One Forty Fiction, and “Shelf Life” was published yesterday at Seedpod.

Also recently published were “Wet Wings” and “Sweet Red,” both at trapeze magazine.
